Two markets in one borough
Stockton splits neatly in two. The older suburbs, Hartburn, Fairfield, Grangefield and the town itself, are classic Teesside: 1930s and post-war semis with up and over doors now on their second or third decade, generating the usual stream of spring, cable and roller repairs at £80 to £250. The newer edges, Wynyard's fringe and the recent estates off the A177, came with insulated sectional doors on integral garages, and their work is upgrades: automation, smarter operators, and like-for-like replacements as the earliest doors age.
Integral garages and insulation
Stockton's newer housing puts the garage under or beside living space, which makes the door part of the house's warmth. A draughty single-skin door chills the bedroom above; a 40mm insulated sectional with full perimeter seals keeps the garage within a few degrees of the house. It is the single most requested upgrade across the borough, £1,200 to £2,500 fitted.
Security on the older stock
Hartburn and Fairfield's older up and overs with single locking bars are the borough's burglary weak point, garages with connecting doors to the house especially. Replacement doors with multi-point locking, or an auto-locking insulated roller, close that gap for £900 to £2,000.
